How your move works

An international move is a complex operation that requires close interaction and clear agreements to make it happen. It's paramount you know how the move will unfold, when certain things will happen, what you need to organize yourself and what not.

Our move coordinators are experts in managing expectations and emotions during an important step in your live. To help you in advance, however, below you can read about the steps involved in your move, and how Gosselin will help you along the way.


Professional move coordinators

Once booked, you are assigned a dedicated Move Coordinator who will be your single point of contact from start to finish. He/she is your 'go to' person for absolutely everything; they'll know how to answer your every concern, foresee and prevent potential problems, and soothe your nerves to boot.

Responsible for planning your move, explaining customs requirements, talking you through insurance options, tracking your shipment, organizing delivery and keeping you informed along the way... it's a complex role, and only those passionate about personalized customer service are equipped to do it.

Pre-move survey

Being the first step in your move, the on-site survey is the key to success. Our surveyor verifies your volume, requirements and conditions. It helps you to understand how the move will take place, resolve any concerns and prevents unpleasant surprises later on.

And remember, they are for free!


Depending on your specific needs, your goods are sent via air, sea, road or rail (or a combination of them all!). The method is dependent upon the distance you are moving, the urgency of your shipment and of course the most cost-effective solution.


After the assesment, we send you a no-obligations quotation based upon the volume of your goods, the destination, the transport mode and some other clearly defined conditions.

We value transparency in our dealings with customers, so you can be sure that there will be no hidden surprises.

Customs clearance

We inform you in advance of any dangerous, hazardous or restricted goods that you cannot take with you. We'll also help you complete all the necessary customs documentation to ensure that your shipment clears customs quickly and is ready for delivery.

Plan & Preparation

You will be assigned a dedicated move coordinator, who remains your single point of contact throughout the entire process. You receive a detailed plan for how and when the move will take place, including the date of packing/loading, the transportation method, insurance options and any other particulars you discussed with the surveyor.

Delivery & Unpacking

Your move coordinator tracks your shipment, notifying you of the arrival time or any delays. Once your belongings have cleared customs, we transport them to your new home and deliver them to you door, unloading everything into the rooms you have specified. At the end we remove all the debris.


On packing day, our expert packing crews work their magic to protect your belongings and minimize movement on the journey. You and the crew foreman will sign a personalized inventory of your goods, which is used at your destination to ensure that everything is accounted for.
